Fund Raising!

Huge thanks to the staff and customers at Tesco Southampton Road, Salisbury.

You may well have seen myself and some of the other trekkers recently, as we have been stood packing shopping bags.

Once a month for the past 4 months, we have been actively raising the awareness of our Grand Canyon Trek, and our reasons for taking part whilst helping and talking to shoppers in Tesco.

Image result for tesco bag for lifeI am a great believer that you need to earn your sponsorship and donations for any fundraising events, not just expect people to put their hands in their pockets for you. For this reason I took it upon myself to contact Tesco and ask if we could do something to help their customers that in turn would help us.

Obviously I cant speak for the other bag packers in the team, but I have really enjoyed myself. It's been a great experience, its given me the opportunity to meet new people, help them by packing their shopping bags and generally have a real giggle. I have also heard some amazing tales of people that have been through chemo or radio therapy, that are in remission and sadly of loved ones that have lost their battle with cancer.

From day one I have been determined to raise my £4,000 fundraising target, but I  knew that it wasn't going to be easy not just for me, but for everyone in the group.

With all the various fundraising ideas we've had and events we've all been holding, we have all managed to either achieve all or most of our targets.

Thank you, your generosity really has been wonderful!

Packing your shopping bags for the donations placed in my bucket  has really helped to boost my fundraising pot for the Stars Appeal, and as a group we have already raised an accumulative figure over £40,000 (still rising)

Here are a few of my fellow Trekkers (and their stand in fundraisers)

Well we have just two more bag packing dates left before we fly to Phoenix to trek the Grand Canyon, so please come along and say hi. Let us help pack your shopping for you.

You can find us from 9am on:
Saturday 21st March
Saturday 4th April

Over Due Catch Up!

Hi how are you?

I can certainly say that although the past five months have been enjoyable for me - they've also been very busy!

Its been a while since my last blog update, and for that I am truly sorry.

Things really have been a little hectic and of course we've had so many things going on in our lives.

So lets have a catch up. Oh and don't panic, I'm going to break this down over a few days. I don't want to bore you and give you too much to read all in one go. Right so where shall I start.................

"Stars in the Canyon"

A few months ago now but, OH WHAT A NIGHT!

MASSIVE thanks to every one that  took part in what can only be described as a totally amazing night. To everyone involved including Jane Gregory from the Chapel Night Club, John Rose for capturing some fantastic images, everyone that purchased a ticket and came along, the businesses that supported and to the amazingly talented performers that took part in what can only be described as a TRULY AMAZING night! You know who they were but if not here is a reminder, of our headline acts:

Every part of this event, from setting the tables to the auction, the 4 - YES 4 standing ovations during the show and the whooping £3, 426.03 raised from the night was brilliant!! We had some fantastic auction lots kindly donated by some amazing local businesses as well as the goodies on the tables and in the bags.

A huge thanks must also go to the staff at the Mecure White Hart Hotel, for looking after 3 of our special guest performers, to The Chapel Night Club for allowing us to use their venue FREE of charge and the long list of performers and businesses that made this very special evening possible.

Thank you really doesn't seem a big enough word, but it is said to each and every person involved from the bottom of my heart.
You are all truly wonderful
